1995 - Significant Gateway

Lurline Street is flagged as “the major route to Echo Point, a premier tourist attraction, and the most significant gateway within the Blue Mountains” in the 1995 Draft Echo Point Plan of Management.

The Draft Plan recommends that the City Council “undertake streetscape improvements including tree planting and upgrading street furniture to improve the character of the primary access routes to Echo Point.” (EDAW Australia 1995, pp.7-8)

Five years later, the Plan of Management for Proposed Echo Point Crown Reserve 2000 dials this down to “traffic calming measures for Lurline Street including a vegetated median”. (Mandis Roberts Consultants 2000, p. 11)
